Can Gender Specific Toys Stereotype Children?

We recently read an article that suggested that toys children play with have an impact not only on how they see themselves and on what skills they learn, but also on how their brains physically develop.

Some psychologists argue that this helps to explain why certain professions are so male-dominated. An increasing number of parents and carers now say they try to avoid gender-stereotyped play.

It can sound quite complicated actually and even confusing to most, not that it’s always easy to overcome your own prejudices.

It sounded interesting enough to write a post about and ask our readers what they thought and what experiences or evidence they have to share and back up their point of view. Please do leave your feedback, views and thoughts on our comments section and lets get a discussion going!
